About the Production
This production is the creation of a sizzle reel for the documentary “Never Enough: Why Our Kids are Obsessed with Social Media” written and directed by Celese Heward.
The following roles are part of the scripted portions of the film which work in with a fictional storyline.
Scenes will be shot in Mackay, Queensland, during June 2021, over a period of 1-2 days.
Film Logline
After the assault of her young teenager and the desperate journey afterwards, a modern mother realises that what is socially normal is not necessarily acceptable.
Character Descriptions
MOTHER
Our protagonist is a modern mother (age 38-45) who is trying her hardest to parent her children, maintain her career, and maintain her marriage. She always finds that she’s out of time, out of patience, and never living up to social (media) standards. She’s never enough. She struggles with her eldest daughter and maintaining a peaceful relationship with her, as they both seem to be obsessed with their mobile phones.
DAUGHTER
Our daughter is in her mid teens and hit a point where she rarely sees her parents, can only connect to her decade younger brother, and is looking for any excuse to skip school. She’s desperate for clout, and has grown up watching her mother live inside her phone. She resents the fact that her parents only talk to her when they’ve got something to lecture her about.
PERPETRATOR
A young man who lives for the thrill, our perpetrator has been in and out of trouble his whole life. His mother committed suicide under the influence of drugs while he was young, and he is addicted to pornography and alcohol. An extremely deceptive individual, he is lonely and isolated, craving interaction with females.
